Holo ʻai
Food-Sharing Program

Shared Abundance
The term, Holo ʻAi, is laden with layers of meaning. Holo means to flow, run, sail, fly, and ‘ai means food. These words, together, helped us name our earliest efforts to speed food to where it was needed most during pandemic lockdowns.
Holo ‘ai also names a traditional food bundle, wrapped in ti leaves, that was easily lashed together in large quantities to be floated down rivers to waiting canoes or hiked out of rich kalo-terraced valleys. In times of famine, food was moved in this way to sustain entire villages.
For us, the meaning of Holo ‘ai is multiform—a food bundle, a food-sharing program, and a long-remembered practice of shared abundance.

Fueling Holo ʻAi with

Our friendship and now this partnership with Momentous is built on a shared commitment to positively impact our communities through the work we do. We are excited to launch our new flavor of Fuel, inspired by the island of Maui, that will directly support the Holo ‘Ai Program on the island, expanding our collective impact and serving as one example of how businesses and communities can thrive, together.
A humongous mahalo to the entire Momentous team and an extra mahalo to Jeff who has joined for on multiple Holo ‘Ai harvest nights, who has literally carried food out on his back and into our communities. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo.
Their special-edition PASSION ORANGE GUAVA (‘POG’) FUEL, inspired by their time volunteering with the Holo ‘Ai Program, goes beyond performance and taste—Momentous is donating $10 of every purchase directly to Holo ‘Ai, with the goal of raising $200,000, the equivalent of 160,000 meals.

Holo ka ‘ai! May we continue to sustain one another.
