Pan-Sear

OPTION 1 - Keep ‘em whole.
From Thawed, simmer in water until warmed through, for about 3 minutes. If desired, lightly brown in oiled skillet (we prefer butter or animal fat).

OPTION 2 - Slice ‘em up.
From thawed, slice diagonally and sear in oiled skillet until warmed through, about 1 -2 minutes a side, or until you achieve the perfect browning. (This method allows the sausage to heat quickly and absorb just enough of your cooking butter or oil to enhance the bite and chew)

PREP

DEFROSTING

To avoid leaks and messy clean-ups, be sure to defrost your Breakfast Sausage on a paper towel-lined plate or bowl. This will help catch any liquid that may leak out during the process of thawing! Never thaw your Breakfast Sausage on the kitchen counter, in the garage, or outdoors. These methods create opportunities for bacteria to grow, leaving your Sausage unsafe for consumption.

REFRIGERATOR METHOD

This method is the safest (and easiest) way to thaw your Breakfast Sausage, though it requires some planning. You’ll want to place your Breakfast Sausage in the fridge at least 24 hours before you’re ready to cook it.

COLD WATER METHOD

This is the fastest way to thaw your Breakfast Sausage—it just requires a bit more of your attention. Leave your Breakfast Sausage in its airtight packaging and submerge in a bowl of cold tap water, changing out the water every 30 minutes so it continues to thaw. It’s important to note to cook the Sausage immediately once thawed.

Gauging Doneness

You want your links to be heated through and browned to your liking, but don’t overcook them. Since they are extra lean, aim for a quick sear or light browning rather than the deeper color typical of traditional sausages.

If you slice your links, they will cook faster. Just make sure they are thoroughly heated, then brown them to your liking.

extra tips

Slice your links and sear with a little butter - or other animal fats. With such lean links, allowing even a little fat to be absorbed when searing can improve the experience.

To cook from frozen, you can simmer-in-water to speed up thawing without over cooking. Break out your frozen links, and place in simmering water until they float (around 6-8 mins). At this point, they should be heated through. Place in a well-oiled skillet and brown to your liking.
